‘Awyr Iach’ - a breath of fresh air from singer songwriter Ynyr Llwyd

Relaxing in the great outdoors amidst the hustle and bustle of busy life is the inspiration for Vale of Clwyd professional musician, Ynyr Llwyd’s new Welsh EP, ‘Awyr Iach’ (Fresh Air). In his latest album, the third released by Aran Records, the maturity of the singer songwriter is evident. Having experimented with various styles over the years, he feels he has found his own sound whilst writing and recording these songs for the new album; acoustic rock and pop.

Young Songwriter Ynyr Llwyd re-establishes the role of the piano

On 6th October, Aran Records will be releasing ‘Cilfach’, the debut EP from singer/songwriter Ynyr Llwyd.  The songs on the EP demonstrate his talent to compose original and contemporary material at the piano. “There are so many young bands using guitar, bass and drums,” says Ynyr, “but hardly any pianists compose in these bands. In a way, I’m trying to raise the profile of the instrument, to extend its use beyond the classical styles it’s usually associated with”.

A ‘comforting’ taster of things to come

‘Cysur’ (meaning comfort or reassurance) is a gorgeous, simple song, and as the title suggests, the words offer support to someone who might be feeling a bit low.

Sometimes, when we are anxious, we can put ourselves into a negative frame of mind. This is reflected in the song by the suggestion of someone walking in the rain. Ynyr’s message in the song is that “if that’s what you want to do, then I’ll be there walking alongside you. You can wear my jacket, and I’ll hold your hand.”

An enthusiastic welcome for the new band

The National Eisteddfod in Dinbych 2013 heralded a busy week for Ynyr llwyd, as the eisteddfod was visiting his home town. His appearances were numerous, from stands on the eisteddfod field to the performers stage and not forgetting his energetic performance on the main stage of the pavilon with his new band 'Y Llwyd' in support of Bryn Fôn.

Ynyr and the band were in the studio over the Summer and their first track was releases during the Eisteddfod week – ‘’Un Lleuad’’.

Record celebrates life in all it's glory

'Not everything's black and white' as the saying goes. There's a grey area that represents the complexity and the richness that makes our world such an interesting place. That's the message behind the title of a new CD by Ynyr Llwyd, 'Rhwng gwyn a du' (Between black and white), that is being released by Aran Records on December the 1st.
His first CD, entitled 'Cilfach', included a number of beautiful piano ballads, and received a warm reception last year.

Bydd record newydd Ynyr Llwyd yn cael ei rhyddhau ar Orffennaf 29, ac am y tro cyntaf fe glywir band newydd Ynyr arni, a elwir (yn gyfleus iawn) ‘Y Llwyd’. “Ges i syniad o roi enw i’r band a fyddai dal yn reit debyg i fy enw i fel artist, felly dwi’n lwcus iawn fod gen i enw a oedd yn caniatau hynny!” meddai Ynyr.

There will be a new record released on July 29 by the songwriter Ynyr Llwyd, and for the first time it will feature Ynyr's new band, called (very conveniently) 'The Grey'. "I got the idea of giving the band a name that is quite similar to my own name as an artist, so I'm very lucky that I have a name that allowed it!" said Ynyr.

The new band can be heard live for the first time in a series of performances during the National Eisteddfod.
